Potential of University of Kragujevac

Laboratory for General and Applied Entomology was established in 2014. and it is part of the Department of Biology and Ecology, Faculty of Science, Kragujevac. The main activity of the Laboratory is related to scientific and research work in the field of entomology, zoology and ecology of invertebrate animals. The goal of the laboratory is to work and publish the original scientific research, to introduce new and innovative methods and to contribute to the improvement of existing knowledge in morphology, systematics and phylogeny of insects and other invertebrates, their ecology and behavior, as well as the development and application of methods for biological control of insect pests. The modernization and improvement of the teaching process in the framework of master's and doctoral studies resulted in the formation of scientific personnel who plays an important role in entomological research.

• Entomofaunistics,
• Laboratory rearing of economically important insect species and study of their biology and ecology
• Application and development of modern taxonomic methods (morphometric, molecular, biochemical...)
• Contribution to the development of entomological databases
• Applicaton of insects and semiochemically active substances in biological control of other unwanted species, particularly invasive (biological control) and in biomedical applications
• Participation in the review and development of strategies to control the economically important species of insects.

• 19 papers published in international scientific journals with Thompson lists and 50 papers in national scientific journals.
• A large number of papers and presentations at international / national scientific meetings.
• Associates of the Laboratory participated in six international projects, of which one of the programs Fauna Europaea, one of the SCOPES program, one of BIOCOMES program, 1 in the program SYNTHESIS and 2 of the project in the Republic of Macedonia.
• In the period from 1996. to 2014. realized / realizing 9 scientific projects in the basic research and integrated and interdisciplinary research.
